Mr. Parker is vice chairman of the Salt Lake County assembly and his wife, Barbara, is also an elected member of this body. Mr. Parker is the representative for the Bahai community and has served as coordinator of the Bahai' Intermountain Summer School in California and was one of the Utah representatives at the World Congress held in London, England, last spring to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the faith. Mr. Parker is a communications engineer for the Mountain States Telephone Co. and has been with the Bell System for 23 years. He became interested in the Bahai Faith because it encourages independent investigation of truth and one of its major teachings is that religion and science do agree. Origin of Name The name Bahai means a follower of BahaUTlah, which is Arabic for the Glory of God. He was a Persian nobleman born in Iran in the last century.
