Monday, August 21st, the Salt Betty Gourley EXCLUSIVE Mourning Dove Season The annual mourning dove season for 1961 will begin Friday, September 1 in all Utah counties, but will vary by county from 10 to 24 days in length. Legal shooting hours for the mourning dove will be one-hahour before sunrise to sunset each day of the season. Bag limit, as in years past, will be ten birds, with a possession limit of 20 birds allowed after Special Envelopes The special envelopes have been used for many years, with a resulting reduction in time needed to set up and conduct the public drawings. They have also proven valuable in returning the fee of the unsuccessful elk applicants at a much earlier date and at reduced cost, according to the department. The $15.00 application fee must be made in the form of a certified check, cashiers check, personal check or money order. Department spokesmen noted that in the event a successful applicant submits a personal check aqd has insufficient funds, the permit is forfeited. Currency will not be accepted. Groups Plan Many Events 4-- H !l!i Permits Applications for permits on all elk hunting units will be received at the main offices of the Utah Department of Fish and Game, 1596 West North Temple, Salt Lake City 16, effective Aug. 4. The application period will continue through August 18. with any letter postmarked later than midnight that date being returned to the sender. Elk applications may be made by mail only, in the green colored envelopes provided by the department of fish and game.
