4C Thursday Obituaries May 20 1999 Jaren BSaine Mayes Hartog OGDEN - Blame Moyes Hartog died Vrednesday May 19 1999 at McKay-De- e Hospital alter a brie illness He was bom July 7 1913 in Ogden titan the 2nd son o Cornelius Heber and Maggie May Moyes Hartog He married May Jest September 1933 m Far- S3 Utah died in mington She 19S5 A life-lon- resident Ogden g of the area Blaine graduated from Ogden High School in 1931 He was employed by Browning Chevrolet after high school and at Hill Air Force Base during World War II where he worked on milHe taught itary aircraft superchargers St Weber State University m the Automotive Technology Department tor 32 years and was instrumental in developautomotive program He ing the attended several automotive institutes Including Ford Motor of Detroit Michigan and General Motors Institute in Fknt Michigan He also attended University of Colorado at Fort Collins and Utah State University Blaine served as treasurer of the Weber State Credit Union for 21 years was on the Board of Directors for 25 years and served on the Board of D- irectors of the Utah Credit Union league tor two years He was a member of UEA Utah Retired Teachers Association and the Society of Automotive Engineers He served as General Chairman of WSU Homecoming Activities for seven consecutive years during the '60 s and as president and treasurer of the WSU Ementi Faculty Association He has been associated with the local and state units of the Alzheimers’ Support Group for 14 years He established the Edward N Hartog Memorial Scholarship at WSU He was a member of the Ogden 7th Ward He enjoyed camping traveling the Western United States and anything associated wto cars and will be fondly He was remembered as an avid reader and taught himself to play the organ Survivors include one son Thomas J (Pat) Hartog Guilford CT two daughters Marilyn H (Orson) Porter Brownsburg Indiana Nancy Hartog Patricia HarOgden daughter-in-latog Denver CO eleven grandchildren He is also and five Survived by a sister Dolores H a brother James C (Donnell) Hartog and a large extended family who loved their 'Uncle Blaine' He was preceded in death by one son Edward N Hartog He will be greatly missed by many friends associates and his 'Friday Group' Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 22 1999 11:00 a m at the Ogden 7th83rd Ward 770 15th St Ogden Friends may call at Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th Street Ogden from 6 00 to 8:00 pm Friday May 21 1999 and Saturday at the Ogden 7th83rd Ward one hour prior to services In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers' Association of Utah 455 East 400 South 208 Salt 1 Nord-qui- st Lake City Utah 84111 Interment Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park ValDeane Glbby Garner NORTH OGDEN - Bessie Manning Workman 93 of Ogden died May 19 1999 at Sunshine Terrace Rest Home Logan She was bom June 13 1905 in Hooper a daughter of Frank and Martha Manning She married Budd William Workman September 16 1925 in toe Salt Lake Temple She attended school in Hooper Utah and Heybum and Paul Idaho She resided in Ogden since 1927 During the last 13 years she had re- sided at the Harrison Regent Retirement Center in Ogden She was head of bookkeeping for Commercial Security Bank in Ogden In addition most of her life she was a housewife She was a member of the LDS Church worked in auxiliaries served as organist Relief Society Teacher and Visiting Teacher She was a member of the Ogden well from BYU On May 23 1953 ValDeane married Clair James Gamer In the Salt Lake Temple with Spencer W Kimball performing the marriage and sealing She retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a Training Assistant She was an active member of the North Ogden 1st Ward and has held many church positions throughout her life She was a leader in the MIA youth r group and achieved the Golden Award She loved music and was the Relief Society Chorister for many years as well as the Ward Music Chair-- ’ person She traveled with her husband Clair during his military service In California and Washington They lived in San Mateo California before returning to North Ogden where she and Clair have enioyed living for 36 years She was a member of DUP acting as r camp Captain of the Myrtle Rent camp She was a member of the North Ogden Civic League and supported its functions and benefits She was a member of La Dianaeda Sorority at Weber State College and valued those friendships at the time of her death -
