Show OBITUARY NOTES ENOCH M X KING LAYTON davis county april enoch M king one of our old pioneers and the son of eliazer and nancy P king passed away at 6 on aprie april with brights brighta disease he was born in east blumfield ontario county new York May 1 1821 was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints at the age of 15 he passed through all the trying scones scenes of kirtland and missouri and nauvoo and arrived in these valleys in 1849 locating at rays kays creek now layton lay ton in 1854 which has ever since since been his home in 1841 he was married to mary B ware in nauvoo was wa the father of ten children nine of whom are living he has eighty five grandchildren and fourteen great rest gand grandchildren children he was one Y of the N nauvoo legion also took part in the indian wars and in the echo canyon campaign the funeral services were hold held at his residence tuesday afternoon communicated NANCY ELDREDGE nanc nancy y eldredge widow of the late ira eldred eldredge ge died at coalville Co alville utah april 12 1895 deceased was born in the state of me maryland november she w was as t the arze eldest daughter ol of joshua and elizabeth burgess black and came with her parents to indianapolis where she formed the acquaintance of her future husband hua hus bund ira eldredge they were married in 1833 and bee became a me identified with the mormon people in 1840 in 1846 they commenced a journey westward at the time of the exodus ot of the saints from nauvoo and spent the winter of 1846 7 at winter quarters on the west bank of the missouri river in the spring of 1847 they continued westward with the first company compa n y that followed the pioneers and arrived in salt lake valley september 22 ol of that year they spent the following winter in the old fort they located in the spring of 1849 on canyon creek what is now known as sugar house ward and here resided during the husbands lifetime and where she con tinned to reside until her health failed in 1893 Dece deceased aed then went to coalville Co alville to live with w ith her daughter mrs garn she breathed her last within a few rods rode of the spot where her husband passed over the great divide twenty nine years before the funeral was held in the sugar house ward today monday at 11 am and ana the remains were interred in the city cemetery by the side of her companion in life her two daughters and six sons survive her C communicated 1 |
