| Show A BIG SCHEME THE UTAH MIDLAND RAILWAY COMING X readers of the NEWS will remember an item which appeared in these columns some two months ago concerning the advent and subsequent departure of a railroad surveying party several conjectures as to where they were going and what they were to do when they got there being afloat these questions were all set at rest this morning by the ming filing of articles of incorporation ot the utah midland railroad with secretary thomas and the issuance of a certificate thereupon the authorized ca capital I 1 is and at the rate of 1000 1 paid up for each mile of road at least must have already been paid in as it is contemplated that the road will cover the corresponding distance the road which is to be broad gauge will run from the colorado state line on white river via salt lake to ogden the incorporators are salt lake city joab lawrence caleb W west W S mccornick P H lannan F H auerbach J A groesbeck pJ 0 J salisbury H W lawrence ell eli W H murray GS G S ert erb colorado springs president J J vice president orlando metca metcalf I 1 and general manager e D 1 B 1 robinson general solicitor henry irenr T rogers and H D fisher of the colorado color midland the directors are the colorado springs and anaw S mccornick and E H murray of salt lake city president hage wan roan of the colorado road will likely be president of the new corporation it is the intention to have the utah midland connect directly with the colorado namesake which runs through a large portion of the western bartot part ol 01 that state and between the two organizations there will of course be a strong business affinity each not only operating for the benefit of the other but under different name being in fact one and the same thing thine there are two surveying parties in the field one in utah the other in colorado but the exact route from end to end hb has not yet been definitely determined whichever path may maybe be chosen one thing is tolerably certain that it is a big enterprise the ile between utah and colorado is at present pres entin in its incipiency though by no po means a small matter and it will iu crease with additional facilities besides which way business willbe considerable sid erable of course work will go right ahead and the road be completed as soon as ene energy orgy and capital can do it the total cost is estimated we understand at from to |
