conr conference which was held at little redstone fayette IT ayette county last may a branch of the church was organized at that place and another at new england in allegheny county elder wm win W allen alien and myself were left to labor in this part and bearing of parties in east liverpool ohio that were enquiring after our people and religion we went there and the result was that FIVE PERSONS were added to the church by baptism returning to elkcorn allegheny county baptized zea a few persons and with those that had previously taken that important step a branch of the church was oil gan izea soon after our may conference elder V E bian who had been released to ledurn home went into mount pleasant westmoreland county pa where he baptized four persons and during the summer others were added and anda a Bou flourishing g branch of the church churcher organized gani zed in our traveling around in this state we have f found it very verk difficult to procure houses bouses to preach in aad aheu we could get hous houses esthere there would not befany come to bear us but this no doubt is because they are not in the habit of going to church a we find their own churches very poorly attended we have received some wordy persecution but no violence since that reported in our letter last mao man we have held meetings in school houses private houses bouses and d in the open air many D F stout and jos kidwell having arrived from other conferences in this mission and elder thomas butler who had haa been laboring in the northern part of this state since last spring also put in an appear appearance ande to the joy of himself as well as his co laborers SIX were held during the conference all well attended aua some times cro crowded crowned waed good order prevailed and an attentive congre congregation aaion was addressed by each of all ite toe aforesaid elders from utah and by elders George Barnes andT andino no mcdonald local elders elder reports of the standing orrall the branches were given ivea by their respective dents ants viz elder george barney of new england branch elder john mcdonald ot of elator elk tor horn branch priest william rae kae of little redstone branch priest norman wright ol of mount pleasant branch all were reported as in a flourishing g con with one good sabbath school at little redstone brother george davidson was ord a priest and set apart to preside over the east liverpool ohio branch brother geo brown of mount pleasant was ivas ordained ai Teacher and brother john young of little was also ordained a teacher me general ana local authorities g or of the church and of this mission were sustained many that were not members voting for them this had been a part of the indiana conference but it was deemed best to divide the conference ence to make it more convenient for the in this part and lor for the general good of the cause hence the western half of the state of pennsylvania and the whole state of ohio were excellent after the I 1 conference we made A FLYING VISIT to the branches in this part of the state on october ct ober president palmer preached to the josephites in their hall in pittsburg subject the gathering and various points point of difference between them and us as to au tho thorny rity etc we w were ere challenged to a discussion on those paints which challenge we accepted but u up to date there has hail been something in the way on their part and perhaps the debate will not occur pro probably bably it would no not t be p profitable ro president palmer has gone west the elders have
