youth of zion I 1 take pleasure in reporting an official visit to beaver on oa thursday november her 22 od I 1 left by the U P train at am for mil ford and on reaching provo was joined by my esteemed laborer co elder karl 0 4 maeser our purpose was a two days P sunday school conference of the beaver stake of zion at juat juab we charged changed care for Ml milford lford being miles from that place this end of the union pacific railroad being abeln chiefly sustained by freight to and from tuf the southern out bern coun not by passenger travel accounts for the fact of IM being a slow blow and tiresome journey from juanto juab to milford and return so much switching of cars can of necessity has baa to be dine twenty three miles from juab wt reach a small settlement by the he name of leamington leavington Lea we also orosa arose over the sevier river thirteen times timer leaving juab and enter into millard passing within a short distance of deseret on the west this la Is a thriving settlement ett lement composed corn posed of a carml farming ug community and is about twenty miles mile west of fillmore on account of its if scattered condition it has recently been divided into three distinct ward viz deseret oasis and hinckley there is in little to interest the traveller while passing through the remainder of ml millard hard and a part of beaver county until we reach milford Mi iford we arrived here bete a little before 8 p m and were welcomed at the home of the presiding elder E tanner brother maier had already arrived with an easy conveyance from beaver and with him we started at 1080 on friday for our destination milford to in miles from salt lake city and 82 miles from beaver we arrived at Mine raville between I 1 and 2 and were kindly entertained at the bouse bouce of bishop eyres whom we found on crutches having had his leg broken by the kick of a horse he had h ad been an invalid for nearly three months we reached beaver early in the even evening inz and under the hospitable roof of my old friend john B R murdock felt perfectly at home while brother maeser stopped at his bis saturday nov we held two conference meetings at 10 a m and 2 pm p m at eaon of which we had bad superintendents teacher tea oben parents and children stake assistant superintendent olson olsea presided several adjoining schools word were reported and also beaver schools by the several superintendents aud interspersed by remarks and suggestions gest ions oo on sun lay school work by the visiting brethren in the evening we attended a large and interesting religion class in one of the rooms of the academy building which was crowded browd ed by young people anxious to learn arn principles doctrines and duties pertaining to the gospel of jesus christ three rooms in the building are already flais finished hed and were dedicated by elder eider karl G maeser for the use of the district senell for the time being sunday november 25 between 10 and 11 aulock we visited the various departments of the beaver sunday school held in three different build lugs lug for the purpose of seeing weir matood of conducting the same ail the beaver sunday school children were then taken in order to the meet lug houde sud aud about 11 the exercises composed of individual anu and class work were very creditably conducted to in singing and recitations and were followed by remarks from assistant superintendent olsen olean at 2 the house was again crowded and ana sunday school work a welt dwelt upon besides toe singing of the popular song on the lord lordi a meeting we were in elder shepherd carriage to spend our last nighta Is rest in his bis comfortable home and on monday november 26 ib we bid adieu to all our friends in beaver hoping and praying that our feeble gabrs lab ars may be acceptable to our heavenly father and that the he fruits thereof may be seen after many days in works or of righteousness and the glory of god we left beaver about noon behind a good team driven by its owner superintendent olsen and reached Mine reville eighteen miles between 2 and 3 pm calling on acting bishop mcknight Mo Knight we were kindly treated and then went on our way rejoicing arriving at milford about 7 stopping for supper at superintendent maddens Mad sens s after which we held a meeting of the saints who repaired to elder eider tannery tanner ais for
