Show DEATH OF JAMES CALDWELL this morning the rei haina baine of isaac james caldwell who died at his residence 59 center street on an tuesday after afternoon nuon last were forwarded to tooele thoele his bia old home for interment the deceased was born in eastern canada april 1833 he oame came to utah in 1863 1853 and located at Tayl taylorsville Taylors oraville ville where he lived three years he then moved to rush valley tooele county where he married miss mies eliza russell with whom he raised a large and respected family in 1886 1885 he removed to tooele thoele where he resided until a few months ago when he brought nil his family to this city where better facilities for educating his children wore were afforded he was well and widely known throughout utah he served one term as an selectman in goosle tooele county and two terms as a member of the municipal council of thoele tooele city and hold held the last named office at the he time of his demise he was ever known as a fearless and outspoken citizen and a courageous and honest official in whom his constituents had bad the most implicit trust he was affable kind and generous to a fault in his youthful days he took part in many of the hardships incidental to pioneer life in etab U tab he was wag one of the seven presidents ot the forty third quorum of seventies his death was due to a chronic kidney complaint of twenty three years standing and though naturally he was a man of splendid physique and konsti aution his sufferings were intense and all attempts to give him permanent r relief failed he leaves a wife and six children and a great many warm hearted friends to mourn his death the mayor and members of the tooele thoele city council and a large number of prominent citizens of that place met the body at the depot and accompanied it to the decease ds Is home a distance of about three miles funeral services were hold held in the tooele thoele meeting house this afternoon at 2 the speakers were president H 8 gowans bowans and elders alonzo J and john gillespie they referred to the leading characteristics of the deceased and advised his hie children to emulate his many virtues their words were full of consolation and encouragement coura gement to the bereaved the interment took place at 4 |
