Show THE BOARD OF EDUCATION the city school board met thursday night might vice president nelson in the chair the members in attendance were newman young alff pratt pike Bay bould dooly baldwin and duke miscellaneous MATTERS B R C watt and eighty others asked the board to secure for school purposes the presbyterian sunday school building situated on fourth west street referred david M chimps guy harbans Har bens william Baw rawlings lings and james lee asked to be made janitors referred the citizens of the third precinct were allowed to use the grounds in front of the nineteenth ward school building for an open air mass meeting to protect against the establishment in that vicinity of the garbage crematory T K morris and others offered to furnish coal black ink to the board for forty cents a gallon referred the committee on sites and buildings building recommended that be appropriated to B R kletting for fifty per cent of his bis bill for architectural services allotted ail All opted the committee on sites and buildings were authorized to advertise for bids for heating beating and venti ventilating latin 9 the the hamilton and franklin school buildings the president and clerk were authorized to sign for the board a petition to have the sewer lateral extended on E street a distance of feet to near the intersection of third street this extension will enable the lowell ach school building to connect with the sewer APPROVED AND disapproved the committee on sites and build ings ingo recommended that the contract for the erection of the jackson and washington school buildings be let to P F M W wright right and A hensgen Hen isgen pike wanted to know whether or not the bondsmen were responsible dooly thought they were pike sprung the proposition that hensgen was not responsible himself and read a long letter from the architect to that end he further said that there was wasp an extra in the contract but no requirement that the contractor do that amount of work he moved that the contract and bond for the erection of washington school be approved carried he then moved that the bond for the erection of the jackson school be disapproved dooly th tha bon bondsmen damen are the same name newman thought the bondsmen were not responsible thought the bon bondsmen damen were weirs perfectly reliable he thought ft a fight was made over something that was unimportant young said there was waa an agreement to pay the contractors nearly 1000 extra but there was nothing that would compel the contractors to do the work for it he offered an amendment that the bonds be approved approve dif tf the contractors would consent to sign the plans to be submitted on august pikes motion to disapprove the bonds was lost and youngs amendment went in as an original
