| Show disease GERMS mm BY FLIES state board of health sends gen 1 eral warning throughout state of utah PESTS CAUSE MANY DEATHS secretary beatty says screens should de be used and debris cleared away with the fly season at hand the state doard board of 0 health through secretary T B D teaty beaty takes occasion to give out a general warning to the people of the state in regard to the pests the warning is given in the following letter to health officers based on investigation vesti gation and medical and surgical reports at at this season of the year a determined ter tor mined effort should be bd made to pre prevent vent the propagation of house flies and to provide screens to exclude them from houses it is now known that they are direct carriers of disease germs feeding upon the secretions and excretions given off from communicable diseases such as ty ibold fever tuberculosis summer complaint of infants etc and depositing the material upon various various articles cles of food to which thoy they may find access dies flies breed in manure leaps heaps and other ot he filth being there recognized as maggots all such material should be removed from premises and it is the duty of health officers to cause this to be done local papers should be requested to call attention to the subject and people should be asked to operate cooperate co for their own protection there is no question but that many lives may be saved from typhoid and other diseases during the next four months by intelligent and faithful precautions directed agai against flies inte republican |
