| Show TOOELE STAKE conference the quarterly eon conference ference of the tooele thoele stake convened in tooele thoele city on april and the opening meeting was called to order by president gowans at 10 a am m there were present on the stand apostle A H cannon and elder 8 B young of salt lake city president gowans and counselors and a number of the bishops from the stake wards bishop thomas thomaa atkin of the tooele thoele ward and counselor wm Jef jefferies teries of grantsville Grants ville reported their wards in a pr condition counselor C L anderson then spoke upon m the course of life to be pursued pin sued in order to gain the favor of the lord apostle A H cannon delivered a forcible address u upon pon the necessity of increased union amozie among the lat ter day saints in regard to their temporal interests he showed some of the advantages to be gained by a united order dictated by the revelations of god in our lifes lifers labors he treated upon the duties of officers and members in the church of christ and the relationship they bear to each other at 2 bishop daid H caldwell of st at john ward bishop J jhoo no G shields of the lake view ward bishop wm F conof moss of the E T ward and P F D st abor eor of the clover ward made statements as to the irrespective organization elder 8 B young spoke on the necessity of possessing a perfect knowledge of the truth of the gospel and living strictly up V to every principle of purity revealed so sanctifying sanctify ing our bodies as to be fit receptacles for the spirit of the lord elder A J gave part of his experience while laboring in the ministry testifying to the truth and exhorting the youth to be valiant in the cause of god at the morning conference on april 28 brother 0 P bates gave a favorable report of the batesville Bates ville branch A J johnson superintendent of the sabbath schools of the stake endorsed the reports of the bishops in regard to the good which to is being accomplished by the sunday schools he also eulogized the luperi superintendents nten dents and teachers for foe their efficient labors the statistics for the half year en ending d march was read by the clerk and the general authorities of the church and local officers of the stake were presented and unanimously sustained ormus A bates bore a strong testimony to the trutha truthfulness ulness of the work of god revealed through the prophet joseph smith counselor G F Rie richards bards report reported td his labors while visiting the saints in indifferent different parts pans of the stake A good a spirit irit prevails at F 2 elder S B young dwelt upon the importance of educating our youth the duties of parents to children and the corrupt influences sought to be introduced into our communities he exhorted the saints to shun even the appear ance of evil apostle A H cannon spoke upon the education most essential for latter day saints and what the gospel would accomplish for us if we lived up to its requirements the interest and pleasure of the conference were greatly enhanced by the musical selections given by the choir under the leadership of professor john A vanoe vance |
