NANNY OPPORTUNITIES: 11 Some fine tuning of the Southern Utah State football schedule has occurred since it was announced early in the year. We dont have any opponent changes, but we do have four time changes, said Jack Bishop, head football coach and athletic director. One change, in our season opener September 1 against Weber State, is to accommodate television coverage in the Ogden area. The other changes were all for road games and were made at the request of our opponents. Following is the 1990 amended schedule for the Classified Found: Mans watch. Call 5589 and identify it and its yours. PERSON ALSO PAGE Grid sked refined k A layoff ended in style for the SUSC mens and womens track teams Friday in Claremont, Calif. The Thunderbirds traveled to the West Coast to compete in a tournament hosted by the Pomona-Pitze- r Colleges that featured over 30 schools. The meet may have been SUSCs best of the outdoor season, according to Coach Joe Lopour, as the womens 4X400 relay team (Tiffany Gentry, Robin LeRoy, Jody Downee, Jackie Gengler) broke a school record and times improved dramatically. Just about everyone got personal bests on their times, said Lopour. We cut a lot of seconds off; we just have to get some of our injuries fixed. Schools competing in the field included Cal Poly SLO, a recent Division II national champion, Cal State Santa Barbara, Cal State Bakersfield, a number of California colleges, and two guest Australian schools. Due to the large number of entries, events were divided into flights groups of eight to 12 competitors and awards were based on performances in individual flights. SUSC had five tracksters finish first in their respective flights. Brian Workman was first in javelin; Jackie Curtis won her javelin field, winning by three centimeters; Nanette Coates was first in her flight in the javelin; Edy Smith won the triple jump; and Alana Orton won the high jump. Ortons jump of 5 4 may have been good enough for second place overall, according to Lopour, but team scores were not tallied. The are on the road to BYU this weekend and return home for a May 5 meet with Utah. Thunderbird Classifieds must be submitted to our offices in Library 103.
