Show THE THUNDERBIRD Sports & Outdoors SUSC Kerbs named new womens coach Gordon Kerbs, a successful Idaho MWS Main 453 S. Nintendo After graduating from SU, he went directly to Burley, Idaho, where he began a coaching stint which generated 101 wins and 44 losses. During his first season at Burley, he took a team which had a record the prior year and chalked up a 3 record. He took Burleys 1989 region championship team to a state second place finish, losing a three-poiovertime decision in the title game. His 1987 and 1990 teams won conference championships, and his 1988 club earned a state tournament berth. He is also a two-tim-e conference coach of the year. A-lA- Kerbs has served as a head coach and as an assistant coach for Idahos BCI (Basketball Congress International) state teams. He has been active in creating and participating in a number of basketball camps in southern Idaho. He is a graduate of Burley High School where he earned a total of eight letters in football, basketball, and baseball. Kerbs is married to the former Jeanne Keicher of Burley. GOODS 138 S. The Kerbs will officially assume duties at SUSC on July 1, according to Kathryn Berg, associate athletic director for the Thunderbirds. He will also assist with the Thunderbird track program. I am very excited about the opportunity to work in an Division I program, Kerbs said. I like the community, and I am looking foward to meeting our returning players and to the recruitment process. This is a wonderful personal challenge and opportunity. Kerbs is a 1982 graduate of Ricks College, and he received his bachelors degree in 1984 from SUSC. He lettered two years in basketball and two years in baseball while at Ricks.
