Show THE THUNDERBIRD RHA wins BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1989 SUSC WE WELCOME SPECIAL ORDERS LAYAWAY HOW FOR CHRISTMAS A. A. Jb. u AMANDA REESE Members of SUSCs Resident Housing Association staff picked up plenty of ideas for resident living activities, as well as the prestigious spirit award for the third consecutive year while attending the annual International Affiliation of College and in Butte, Mont. University Resident Halls Convention Nov. 2 Representatives earned the award by maintaining the best attendance at the 90 workshops throughout the weekend. They also had to show the best display of school spirit during the week. We had to be constantly up, said Chuck Mollenkopf, director of resident living at SUSC. SUSC also won the school display award. Hans Moffett, a freshman floor representative, headed the project which consisted of an SUSC dorm room model. The room, detailed with actual and dorm room curtain material, held megaphones, pom-pom- s lived-in beds the the the To room look, SUSC suspenders. give were neat one day, messy the next, said Jennie Nielson, activities coordinator. These workshops, planned and run by students, featured everything from stress management to dealing with difficult residents. R.HA representatives agreed that one of the best parts was learning new ideas from fellow students across the Intermountain West. We get together with other students and they tell us what has worked for them, and we get new ideas that way, said Kaylene Shurtz, an SUSC resident adviser. Delegates from 20 colleges throughout the Intermountain West represented more than 65,000 students living on college campuses at the convention. Both delegates and resident students alike benefit from the convention, according to RHA officials. Resident students benefit from the activity ideas that delegates bring back, as well as having more knowledgeable floor representatives. DflYCEDS frames only STARTII3Q flT DECKS. 5 . The new prefix, 865, has been in use in Cedar City for the last six months and was opened to the public Oct. 1, 1989. Currently, there are fewer than 100 public phone service customers that have the use of the new prefix, said Randy Randall, assistant manager for the central office serving Cedar City and St. George. For a new prefix to be assigned to an area, an application must be submitted to the national office. Once it is approved, new equipment or software is installed to facilitate the added service. There was not a real direct cost to add the prefix to the Cedar City area, said Randall. The Cedar City office had only to update the software that they use, he said. The 865 prefix will be used when all combinations assigned to the current 586 prefix are being used, said Steve Linton, seven-are- a manager for US West Communications. 1096 WEST 200 NORTH 7 flVfllUICLE PIECE OAK AMD GLASS 865 phone prefix offered KOUNTRY KITCHEN $49.00 (HID HflTTRESSES POP-UP- S TAGE FOR ONLY $5.
