CONGRATULATIONS Deans approved several curriculum changes for the business and physical education departments in Mondays council meeting. The business department is making several course changes to benefit students who wish to certify for a degree to teach marketing. Management information systems classes will also be emphasized, said Harold H. Hiskey, dean of the School of Business, Technology and Communication. Students will be able to certify in MIS and marketing with the added courses. Accounting 303 will change to 203, primarily to accommodate transfer students, Hiskey said. Marketing 280 will become marketing 301. Deans also approved changes recommended by accreditation officials for the physical education department. The P.E. major has had to be expanded, said Dean of Education James M. Miller. The school will add two new courses an GRADUATES WE APPRECIATE YOUR BUSINESS. The physical education major was also weak in the dance department, said Miller. The department will add fundamentals and methods of teaching social and square dance and a methods of teaching gymnastics course. The changes will begin fall quarter, Miller said. After curriculum changes were approved, problems surfaced concerning implementation for next year. Director of Admissions and Records Mark D. Barton proposed making a deadline for class changes to simplify the process of putting them into the yearly class schedule. Our class schedule is invalid as of now with these changes, he said, expressing concern about the credibility of the class schedule. Our honest desire is to be here as a service. In the future the council decided a deadline for class changes would be imposed to ease confusion concerning registration and the yearly class schedule. Classified not very practical.
