Southern Utah States softball coach of 13 years, Joy Peterson, has been named Coach of the Year five times, led her team to the District Title last year, and to nationals twice. A pitcher, Peterson was, in 1986, inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame, an honor few know. Midway through the interview, her mother called. I saw an inseparable pair, a relationship that has suffered the usual: the terrible twos, the obnoxious years, adolescence, and the rigors of adulthood, emerging intact and very personal.
