Forensic competitors from more than 20 colleges and universities will converge at SUSC this weekend to match wits for sweepstakes honors at the Southern Utah Invitational. UCLA, Arizona State, University of Utah, Weber State, San Diego State and Dixie College will be among the tournament contestants. A strong team from the University of Southern California last year's sweepstakes winner for four-yeschools is expected to attend, as well as Snow College, the sweepstakes winner in the two-yea- r category, according to SUSC Forensic Director Suzanne Larson. Forensic squads from Pomona and Northridge, Calif., are newcomers to the SUSC contest. Inquiries about the annual tournament have come from a couple of schools in the Midwest, Larson said, but it isn't known yet if those teams will participate. Scheduled to start early Saturday with preliminary rounds in individual events, the tournament will end late the following day with the final rounds of NDT (National Debate Topic) and CEDA (Cross Examination Debate As a new sorority on campus, Lytle said, "For the first quarter we will attend the school's games and cultural events as a group to show the campus we are a worthy and respected organization." Directions to the competition sites will be available by contacting squad personnel in Old Administration 204. Larson and Individual Events Coach Dave Klope are tournament directors. Members of the SUSC forensic squad will tackle the logistics of the sprawling tournament. Their efforts are being coordinated by squad captains Marty Harris Niki Kapos and Bill Sheffield. Competition is planned in novice and open CEDA debate, open NDT debate, and in 11 areas of individual events. Although SUSC's forensic squad won't receive points toward the sweepstakes trophy, a few of its members will participate in the weekend tournament for the practice. non-finali- st p, COUPON Color Country TV & Electronics 1067 South Main 586-144- 6 Electronics Sales Service Repairs Engineering Antenna Sales & Installation Commercial & Home Video Systems Satellite Television Systems TV Video 4 Scotch T120 VIDEO TAPES EG 3.39 ERG 6.49 We now stock student affordable TVs, VCRs, and accessories.
