Charles Clements, author of the book "Witness to War and a subsequent documentary of that same name, is scheduled to speak at 11 a.m. in the Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the free program which will include a showing of the speaker's award winning film. Poet Marvin Bell to read here Wednesday night University of Iowa poet Marvin Bell will read his poetry Wednesday evening in Library Special Collections. Scheduled to start at 8 p.m., the reading is free to the public, sponsored by the SUSC Literary Guild. "Bell is one of the hottest poets in this country," said Dave Lee, a professor of English at SUSC. "He also has a reputation as being maybe the best writing teacher in America today." Bell's books of poetry include Stars Which See, Stars Which Do Not See, Things We Dreamt We Died For, and Drawn By Earth, Stone, Fire and Water. Another book, Selected Poems, is expected to appear this spring. He has also written Segues: A Correspondence in Poetry, with William Stafford, and a book of essays and interviews, Old Snow lust Melting.
