A Chorus Line, 8 p.m., Auditorium. 1) A Chorus Line, 8 p.m., Auditorium. o MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY Coming up Symphony to be aired Lin, the violinist, is this weeks guest artist for a Chicago Symphony Orchestra broadcast scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m. on SUSCs radio station, Cho-Lian- g KGSU-F- Lin will perform the Scottish Fantasy, Opus 46 by Max Bruch. Also on the program will be the Notturno for Strings and Harp by the late American composer Irving Fine. The broadcast will conclude with the Symphony Number 5 by the symphonic master Carl Neilsen. The performance will be conducted by guest conductor Leonard Slatkin. KGSU-Fwill broadcast the entire Chicago Symphony season, according to station manager Lance Jackson. The station is found at 91.1 megahertz on the radio dial. Concert scheduled Violinist Julia Quick will perform selections by Bartok, Bach, Beethoven and Kriesler in a May 28 concert at SUSC. The public is invited to attend the free program, scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall. Quick, director of the SUSC Symphony Orchestra, will be accompanied by pianists Evelyn Jones and Hal K. Campbell, both music department faculty members. The program will start with Hungarian composer Bela Bartoks First Rhapsody and continue w;th J.S. Bachs Ciaccona from Partitia Number 2 in D minor for unaccompanied violin. Other selections include Ludwig Von Beethovens Sonata Number 1 in D major, Opus 12, Number 1, and five numbers by Austrian composer Firtz Kriesler: Schon Rosmarin, Rondo on a Theme by Mozart, Liebesfreud, Liebesleid, and Praeludium and Allegro. Jones is the accompanist for the Bartok and Kriesler selections; Campbell for the Beethoven sonata. Quick is a chamber music specialist whose background includes recording for the CBC in Canada and participation in Aspen and Teton music festivals. She joined the SUSC faculty last fall. the |
