Show The Thunderbird Paqe 8 Monday March 3, 1986 Jackie Nokes to speak at Convo Experienced Leadership BY TYLER JENSEN xr'V ALAN BAILEY Jackie Nokes will speak on The Age of Communication at Thursdays Convocation. Nokes, a veteran broadcaster, began her career as an elementary school teacher in Felt, Id. From th ere, she became a service representative and then became the hostess for Romper Room, an educational show for children on KSL-TThen was on staff for the western area for Romper Room. She then became hostess and producer for ''4 Midday for KSL. The show was a half an hour program featuring news, interviews and miscellaneous information that ran for 13 years. From 74-7Nokes the Channel 5 Eyewitness News at 12:30 p.m. Nokes currently has two shows on KSL. FACES and W'Tuits Happening on KSL-Aon KSL-Tradio. She is also currently assistant to the president of KSL radio and television. She is responsible for relationships with schools, speaking to schools and community agencies, representing KSL in various tate boards, performing on-ai- r assignments, and handling the CBS reading project. Nokes will be on campus for Womens History Week conference, Women in the 80s: Celebrating Our Diversity and Unity. Physical Plant Director Gordon Slack said that ordinarily quite a bit of steam would be used at this time of year. Due to the warm weather, some steam has to be let off to keep the pressure down. While he was firing up a boiler, Slack said that a pipe clogged with soot and blew back on him. An ambulance was called, but the man wasnt hurt badly enough to require hospitalization.
