Show Monday Marct 3, 1986 The Tfmtuirr6inf Page Letters Whats Thunderbird Spirit? TO THE EDITOR: I would like to make a rebuttal to the letter written by Ron Phillips in the Feb. 24 issue of The Thunderbird. Mr. Phillips is concerned with the baseball team moving into their regular seats, standing up and yelling at the opposition during the game. If Mr. Phillips had been such an example of Thunderbird Spirit, then he would more than likely noticed, if he had attended earlier games, that the baseball team had been doing this all season. Until the baseball team and a few others had started dressing up and making spectacles of themselves, there wasnt much school spirit shown at the home games. And if you had read an earlier issue of the paper, you would have read that Maz Trakh felt the crowd played a major part in the ballgames. Do you feel that the fans at other colleges who get crazy, are asses also? Mr. Phillips, you might not have liked it, but the basketball team, many students, and faculty members greatly appreciated the baseball teams efforts at increasing school spirit.
