Show Lady Birds keep rolling to 0 conference mark 7-- BY DAVE BURNS Theres only one way to describe the way the SUSC womens basketball team is playing right now. They are, as they themselves would say, kicking booty. Since the Lady Birds began Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this month, theye ripped through loop mark and a 10-opponents for a overall record, having won their last nine starts. Boyd Adams women have dominated their conference opponents by an average winning margin of 16 points. SUSC topped New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas, N.M. Saturday, after a Thursday victory over Western State, Against Southern Colorado on Monday, SUSC scored the first basket and then never trailed the rest of the 8 way while rolling to a victory. They seem to be getting better with each succeeding game. Reaching the plateau again was Denise Muir, the leading scorer on the team. Darla Hunt and Angela Levi contributed points each. On defense Hunt was responsible for holding USCs Kristy Hines to just one point. Hines had averaged 20 points for each of her two previous games. The team then had to hit the road for three games in five nights, stopping Thursday night at Western State, 'then traveling to New Mexico Highland's on Saturday. You may want to bypass the doctor and go straight to the intramural department. SUSCs intramurals program is offering a variety of winter activities this quarter. Anybody is welcome to come and participate including faculty, students, and spouses, according to adviser Tom Kingsford. Mens and womens basketball and racquetball are the events already under way for January. There are three events scheduled for February which include the downhill skiing event. There will be two divisions and a Telemark division for those who enjoy downhill, and cross country skiing, using three pin cross country skis. Skiing activity begins Feb. 18. |
