The loss to Southern Colorado evened Southern Utahs RMAC record to The Lady Birds are now 3 on the season. SUSC ran a offense Friday to chase Mines from its own gym. Gwen Thomas scored 20 points to lead all scorers. Lisa Ballantyne and Lisa Stolk added 13 and 12 points respectively. Both teams kept the contest reasonably close in Saturdays game. However, Southern Colorado took a four-poilead late in the second half and kept the pressure on. Taking advantage of free throw opportunities, the home team built its eventual winning margin. Adams The Thunderbird team will host Cal State, Western State, and Southern Colorado Jan. 20. Southern Utah will tune up for that meet with a Jan. 16 show College mens basketball during halftime of the SUSC-Mes- a a, game. In the second match, the Lady Birds play host to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships Feb. 25. Both meets will be held at the SUSC Phyiscal Education Building. The invitational will start at 7:30 p.m. while the RMAC championships are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Thunderbird Coach Kathryn Berg says she is optimistic about the prospects for this years squad. We have at least three gymnasts who are capable of scoring well in the Berg said. I would think we should-bstronger than we were last year. Janet Jorgensen, a senior from Sigurd, is expected to be one of SUSCs leaders in scoring.
