as a sweet and happy relief to herself bhe she was not only ripened in age but her whole life blossomed with good works embellished with one of the most gentle and heavenly dispositions ever possessed willie a three year old son of brother peter hansen while at play accidentally fell into a boll erful of hot water by which he ww was fearfully scalded after much suffering he died at ati 1 the SHOT amb AND KILLED L SY BY GEORGE CATLIN A murder was committed at ogden on wednesday night we glean the particulars of the affair from the herald of that town the substance of the story is that george catlin james brown and wm mclaughlin had been living together la in a room on young street within several months tuey are reported to have quarreled several times between seven and eight wednesday night the three men were together in their room when catlin took up a valise and took out a loaded revolver cocked it and placed it behind him he they told brown and mclaughlin to get up and leave the room and take a walk mclaughlin laughlin ln procured a bucket of water which he placed behind the door and then left but brown who was waa eating his hia supper remained is in the room shortly after mclaughlin left two shots shota were fired which were heard beard by two lidi lidl 1 ladles idi idl M mrs X kerr 2 and mrs caldwell mother and daughter who occupied the front part of the building and who immediately after lafter saw a man running from the direction of the room to the street an alarm was given and shortly after sheriff wm win brown and V U a deputy marshal oscar repaired to the room where they found brown quite dead no one else was in the room at this time but soon eoon after catlin entered and from some enquiries made of him by the officers they strongly suspected he was implicated in causing thel death of brown they arrested catlin and locked him lira up in jail this morning a pistol was found on the premises just south of the room where the murder had been committed there were four 33 38 calibre cartridges in it and two chambers were empty the weapon was identified as the property of george catlin an examina examination uon don of browns body showed one bullet wound on the left shoulder and another near the armpit the last of which in the opinion of the surgeon produced death the verdict of the corone coroners jury I 1 Y was that deceased seemingly without a ray of hop hopt mother whitney had always a smile upon her face and an encouraging word to afler it afforded him joy to testify to her noble and motherly qualities and to know that
