| Show corl cori correspondence VETERAN GOINE TO ruest rnest ST GEORGE utah nov 9 1885 1883 I 1 editor deseret news meus the many friends and fellow labor ers in southern utah of elder henry win wm miller who died on the uth of october 1885 iss at farmington davis co where bere w some of his family reside have bay e been b een expecting to see published in the NEWS some notice of his death and perhaps a brief sketch of his many years of faithful labor in the church but so far have seen neither if it you will indulge hb his fellow laborers in this mission they would like to have publIsh published hd that henry wm win miller son of james G miller and i i uth nth arnold was born may 1 1807 at lexington N Y ile he was baptized I 1 into a the church of jesus christ in se sept pt 1830 in adams county ill ili removed to nauvoo and was ordained a high priest in 1841 1811 by patriarch hyrum smith ile he was a warm and devoted friend to the prophet joseph zen ee nerous crous with his substance energetic in his lis labors labora to carry on the woi wol work of the lord and was especially active in 0 obtaining ata nin timbers and lumber for th the e nauvoo house and the nauvoo temple ile he was faithful to d duty in the trying ordeals through which the saints had to pass in their exodus from nauvoo was a member of the high council at council bluffs and was returned as representative from potta county to the thu iowa legislature in due course he came to utah and locadd loca ed in farmington davis county in iii 1855 he was sent on a mission to indian territory and returned to utah in 1857 after lie he had aided on the frontier in the emigration of that year ile he came to labor in the southern utah ibn in january 1865 inthis in this mission his untiring labors were devoted to the development of the resources of the beaver leaver dams or mii mil kersburg lers burg until disastrous 0 floods in 1867 that place had to be vacated I 1 when he settled in st george on the of july 1877 lie he became a member of it the high council of st george stake which calling and appointment poi pol he held and honorably filled till his hid death for a number of years he was a director in the canaan coop co op stock co and at the time of his death was a director oriu orlu in the st geore george coop mercantile institution andriso and aiso also in the rio agen manufacturing co prother rother another veteran faithful and true has gone to lits his rest test tarm in the falth faith valiant vallant in testimony with a rich record of labors performed forthe for thu the advancement of the cause of zion lie ile has gone to his beloved friends Jos joseph epli and hyrum Bri brnham briham oliam and haber raber geore george geor e A and rna ina many by ot others hers for any of whom he h willingly have risked his life if necessary jlmes G BLEAK |
