Clyde Dies at 73 an engineering fraternity. In 1957 he was awarded an honorary doctor of law degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City and in 1978 an honoiary doctor of science degree from Utah State University. Four years later the University of Utah presented him an honorary doctor of laws degree. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, he w'as a high priest at the time of his death. Mr. Clyde served briefly in the U.S. Army in a training camp in 1917, but saw' no w'ar action. He was born July 21, 1898, in Springville, a son of pioneer parents, Hyrum Smith and Elenore Jane Johnson Clyde. His father w'as a farmer on one of the early reclamation projects, which initiated Mr. Clyde's interest in irrigation and soils. He married Ora Packard Sept. 10, Continued from Page 17 By R. He was an honorary memitt z of the Rotary Club. Mr. Clyde was graduated from Springville High School in 1917 as valedictorian. In 1921 he graduated from Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University) with a B.S. degree in agricultural engineering and as valedictorian. While there he was affiliated with Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Tau, n y training program and administrator of the Army specialized training program. He also was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Soil dUZiCp 1919, in Springville. later solemnzed in The marriage was the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Clyde survives him, as do 5 children: three sons, Ned P., Berkeley, Calif.; Richard Bruce, Vacaville, Calif.; and Jerald R., Sandy; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer D. (Ruth) Landsaw, Bountiful, and Mrs. LaGrande L. (Mary Ann) Christensen, Salt Lake City; a brother, W. W. Clyde, Springville; and a sister, Mrs. Clara C. Christiansen, San Diego; Calif. There are 14 grandchildren and tv,o en. Funeral services are planned for noon Wednesday in the Monument Park 15th Ward Chapel. Friends may call Tuesday from p.m. at East, and Wednesday at the chapel one hour before services.
