| Show UTAH EASTERN RAILWAY MEETING OP OF till THE MINORITY shareholders COMMITTEE OF protection APPOINTED pursuant to the notice published in hin these columns last week a meeting of the holders of pooled stock in the utah eastern railroad took place on saturday afternoon at foremans firemans Fi remans hall the committee appointed at a previous meeting e e t n to invests investigate ate the affairs os of t the r road 0 submitted the following report SALT lake CITY february oth 1884 to the shareholders of the dool stock of the U E R R gentlemen your committee appointed hinted at a meeting held in ilk the county court house on saturday feb 2 1884 to investigate the present condition of the U E K R it and to ascertain how the road is bein being run in regard to the interest of the minority stockholders respectfully report as follows i we find flud fl jadon on examination that said road has earned by haulin hauling coal on the contract made with the tede ontario silver mining co from dec 1 isso 1880 ito to dec 20 ilk lik iM in addition to which the road has hauled large quantities of lumber rock coal and passengers which would amount to a large sum suna the exact amount your committee could not ascertain from these facts it appears that the earnings of the road are more than sufficient to pax pay the interest on the legal bonded debt m e t and current expenses it there fore for c is evident that there is no necessity for any parties connected with the road undertaking to jeopardize the interest of the minority stockholders therein that on or about the day of november I 1 1883 the day after the new board was vas elected elected orders were issued to the employed emp loyes of the utah i eastern not to receive or trans port any local freight or passengers over said road and on the of december I 1 1883 the coal trains hauling cealon coal on t the he ontario contract were taked off and the coal to fill this contract between the ontario and the utah easta fasti em which was to continue five floors was transferred to the echo park city road and no trains ha haw have ve run over the utah eastern sinn that date thus the present directors of the utah ff va bilg ela lixta roste parties in the echo and park city road rowl have transferred all the business from front one to the other othor to the great detriment and against the geresti interests of the stockholders of the utah eastern wefond we nind find that immediately after the election of directors a new secretary was appointed and the books and papers belonging to the company were taken from the office in this city away from the territory and when stockholders applied at the office to transfer stock or do business they were informed that the books and papers had been sent away we find from the best information that could be obtained the building of the road including right of way station houses weigh scales snow sheds engine houses etc and including worth of rolion rolling stock cost 6 in all up to may about that of the above amount was paid in b by the pooled stockholders and expenSed expended in the construction of 01 the road we nind find on examining the list of bf the pooled stockholders there are between and owners a few of them are wealthy men a good many merchants and a large number of influential citizens who can wield an influence la in this city in resenting a wrong wron when perpetrated upon them should shoula i necessity require it your committee have obtained other information which would be ent eat to mention in this report and in i consideration of all the circumstances they recommend that a committee 0 five stockholders be appointed from this meeting to take the necessary legal steps for the protection of our rights luthe inthe in the utah eastern railroad company JOHN R WINDER WI adl 11 F all ail ARMSTRONG f STRONG A II 11 RALEIGH ralyn ralya wr C 11 II GILCHRIST jouna JOHNA GROESBECK JOHN C CUTLER committee the report was adopted unanimously and a committee was appointed to take the necessary legal steps for protection tec tion following are the names of the committee john R winder dwinder RW inder luder AH all raleigh francis armstrong robertt burton and elias morris |
