Show RETURNED froni FROM NEW ZEALAND I 1 TIM australasian MISSION pros T this his afternoon we received a call from f elder alma greenwood of fillmore who arrived home this mornin morning f from rom a mission to new zealand 11 he c left here for that part of the world 2nd and we have published several beveral I 1 i interesting communications from him helm that have given accounts of 0 his labors which have been fruitful of much nood rood he having taken an active part in the missionary operations among the mabries Ma ories with ahm wham an extensive work has been done and is still progressing many of that people having embraced the falness of the tiie gospel elder greenwood himself baptized persons and assisted in inducting 11 10 others into the church by the same ordinance most of these theae additions were aborigines very f few ew being white people he also assisted in organizing five branches of the church the new members are generally quite intelligent ent and perform their religious duties with zeal and ability they are as a rule exceedingly hospitable and quite exemplary in their conductor conduct or at least saon soon become so when they embrace the gospel in fact the change that takes place for the better in them is almost marvelous in its suddenness the reformatory work among them in produced trod by the Elders was so s striking that it was even observed and coat commented upon by some of the public journals usually unfriendly to 10 the Alor mormon mons mong 11 we behave have some further information f rom from brother greenwood relative to lew new low developments in the opening up of the work in new zealand which we have not space to introduce today to day but will present at another time elder greenwood enjoyed good health while absent from froin home and arrives in that condition with thel th exception of being somewhat fati sati fatigued glied f from rona the effects of the long iong journey ile he was met on the homeward trip by mrs greenwood who him to this city from that point |
