Show UTAH STATE BOARD BOAM OP OF HEALTH atra TH salt lake city jan 17 1908 to health officers and local registrars with the exception of measles and pneumonia there is not an unusual prevalence of communicable diseases in the state outside of sale pale Lake CItY but it is very important for health officers and teachers to exercise the utmost vigilance especial pains should be taken to detect the presence of mild cases as the failure to recognize and rn ta these cases is chiefly responsible tor for the spread ot of contagion all children appearing at school with sore throat of any chat char acter should immediately be sent home the apparent mildness of the attack by no means proving that the case is not one ol of diphtheria or scarlet fever aggravated Aggra rated symptoms of a cold and inflamed eyes should be regarded with suspicion as they are usually presen present t in measles before the appearance of eruption for the first two lays days of such an attack the pupil should be excluded from irom school it is recommended in addition to the quarantine of all cases of measles that no other i member of the family shall be permitted to abend school during the course ol 01 0 the disease an alarming increase in the pneumonia rate was vas recorded during the month the number of deaths having been double that in the corresponding month of the preceding year it should be remembered that pneumonia is a communicable germ disease the germs being given off in the expectoration all secretions from the mouth of a person affected with pneumonia should be carefully destroyed and this precaution should be observed after recovery for a safe period of time NOTICE TO LOCAL registrars local registrars are arc reminded that the law requires the beginning of a new series of 0 registration numbers on january of each year in other words birth and death records shall begin with NUMBER NU aber ONE upon that date yours truly T B D beatty HI al D secretary and state registrar supplement to december 1907 bulletin |
