Show Girls Face Dual Role, Teen Delegates Agree Bv Judv Kleme-ru- d New York Times Writer - In junior NEW YORK schools and senior high 'throughout the country the initials FH.V do not usually bnng to mind the federa' in Washuigton that body makes loans to prospective home owners. Instead, they refer to the Future Homemakers of America, an organization of 600.000 teen-ag- e girls who hope someday to be the wives and mothers of America. But while these girls may w ant to be homemakers, they also believe that they won't feel fulfilled as women unless they also have careers. National Meet That was the consensus of so.ce representative FHA girls from across the nation who got together on the first day of the group's national convention in the Hilton Hotel, to talk about what American teen-ag- e girls are thinking about and about, talking doing. "We all want to woik," said Luck Hendrix, 18, Metter, Ga., the outgoing national president of FHA. Some of us want to work before marriage, and some of us want to work during marriage. Everybody I know seems to think of women as having a dual role homemaker and of wage earner. Want Equal Pay Bv Mditv Tinnerlw.um I especially agree that women should have equal pay for equal work " she said. But I think that if a woman ' married, the man should be the head of the household The girls, who are among the 1,500 delegates attending, also generally agreed that the sexual revolution in this country is. indeed, a reality ; that abortion should be legalized in all of the states; that while drugs are a serious problem, they may just be a phase that all young people thi: k they have to go through; and that the United States should honor its commitments in Vietnam. Young people are really free now said Brenda Booker, 16, San Francisco, who is her states FHA song leader. Most of the girls I know are going braless now. And they were taking the pill until they learned about the side effects. If they do get pregnant, they no longer think they have to run out and get married. They think that it's nobody business but their own. ''' tT ' f .
