Status By Robbie Bird Tribune Staff Writer A childhood of illness start- ed a man down the healing path to nursing. Franklin D. Robinson Jr. began at St. Marks School of Nursing live years ago and will graduate Friday, the fifth male nurse in the school s his. 7 tory. Frank has something important to do in his life time, Mr. Robinsons mother used to say, after battles with the child's frequent illnesses. But neither Frank nor his mother knew his illnesses would lead him to an R.N. degree. Mr. Robinsons desire to enter the nursing field began during his service as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy. But he thought he didnt have time to obtain a trying to go to school, work and be a father to my five he said. She was one of seven to graduate in 1902. She is the former Mable Eager. At 89, she is still alert and gets around well. She plans on attending the Satuiday night homecoming banquet. Mrs. Barnard was night suand surgical perintendent nurse at St. Mark's. For a short time she was employed at I.DS Hospital, and was the first nurse to assist in a sutgical procedure at that hospital.
