Maxine, of Hidden Valley, attacked the long and treacherous No. 5 hole at the links layout. She was on the green in four blows when suddenly everything went black. She took an 11 on the hole. How? Well, she took four 'penalty strokes on the green for one thing. This weird tuin of events came about when she ' hit the wrong ball to get two penalty' shots assessed to her score. Then she stepped up to her ball, knocked It toward the cup, but it rammed Into her op. ponents ball Two more penalty strokes. After she finally got straightto ened out she three-putteget down Jt added up to 11. Despite this Maxine won low gross honors'in her flight. R'Villa Schaupr was moving down No. 9 and had her ball just 20 yards from the ditch that crosses the fairway. Fiom there RVilla took a nshiy swing, hit a sinking driven struck a rock and the ball flcvy behind her and well off to the side of the fairway. Bette Peterson has a more painful story. SHE HAD banged her ball Into the tangled rough between the No. 2 and No. '4 fairway. She tripd to hit out of the rough with a hpfty swing only to have the ball strike an unidentified object in the tall grass. It came sailing back and struck her square in the stomach. Alta Wllkens had the hap-pexperience of tanking an eagle on the rugged No. S hole at the Magna Copper Club recently. 33-3- y Ed Watson, the southpaw linkster, apparently wanted to impress his wife Julie of his knowledge of Forest Dale. He did a pretty good job, too, when he holed out his second shot on No. 1 for an eagle. Undismayed Julie banged her third shot to the green where it hit the pin and just rolled of the edge of the cup. PROVOS Timpanogos golf course had a rash of holes the past week. It all got started when Wayne Hacking scored an ace on No. 17 when he drove a 3 wood into the cup on the 198 yard hole. Then Joe Moore dropped in his tee shot on No. 6, a par 3, using a 6 iron. Dave Lewis got another on the same hole with a 7 iron. e 168-yar- In AAU Championships The 'schedule of folunar period hat been taken from John Alden Knight a Solunar Tablet Plan your day to that you will be fishing In good territory during theta timet, it you with to find the belt abort that to offer each day The major periods are shown In boldface type Thete begin at the timet shown and last for an hour and a half or two hours thereafter.
