spirited meeting and I 1 think attended with good resu results ts I 1 had the pr privilege of lof bearing my testimony along with the rest of the brethren eldek elder I 1 L allphin went to 0 texas elder RI W pratt to st louis in coul company pany with E elder eider ider lder D M stuart and elder J F wells and myself remained in and around omaha and council bluffs for one mouth speaking and visiting tile the people when elder wells had occasion to visit his relatives ill irl in nashville washington county counti illinois where he be is 19 now laboring labori ug and I 1 understand very successful successfully y the people turning out in large numbers I 1 wag was joined hi in my labors by elder joseph G 0 young and in edn co n with lyl III him m remained lema iema ined lin council MUM about two weeks epe speaking aking dking to the tho people both pub lely iely luly and filid privately mostly around their fi resides and in some instances I 1 have had occasion to discuss the tho subject of spiritualism which by the way seems to be the prevailing ism in the neighborhood of council bluff bluffs unless it tacy and with the latter class there seems to be considerable confusion and dissatisfaction or at least it seems so to me die in what little experience peri ence I 1 had with them which I 1 acknowledge is not very extensive but sufficient lent to convince me that they are anything but happy J judg ehg from their looks and actions they always seem to be and discontented the objects ofin terest id and around omaha and council blufus bluffs are not very ini posing or interesting except the missouri bridge which is a T masterpiece of workmanship mans hip bip this bridge I 1 am told is twenty seven h hundred feet long on december joseph G young and myself started for st loui lou uta ata arta the tho kensas city st J joseph and council oluffa K R R 3 a arrived at kansas KanNas city about four in the afternoon ands and saw aw a very busy looking place while in the reception room meditating and considering what road to take to go to st S t louia loula the trains all left the mo t 0 depot and wo ye concluded to stay in kansas city we did not care to go to st louis that night anyhow we preferred to stay in kansas arnd arid ji partake arake ofa of a good nights rest not on a bed of roses but on a terrible hard bench in the waiting room at the depot a and ibid there dream of or our peaceful homes in in the valleys of or tue the mountains with our oyes eyes open at 1 half q P past f fur four ur I 1 in n the mor morning n 1 g tse tte the night watchman thinking proba bly we had enjoyed a good night nights s repose came and notified us it was waa time to getup get up tile the train would leave in a little while for which I 1 felt very thankful we got on the train and through tho kindness of a mr hall we were allowed to go from kansas city to st fit louis cia tia cio vic tile the missouri and pacific E R B R for five dollars a piece the usual fare being twelve dollars bo be ret harking remarking afterwards your countenances es would pass you anywhere on our way to st louis at a station called hermann the people had just participated in in the enjoyment so it seemed to them of hanging a human being and i seemed to be immensely delighted judging horn born the noise they made the confusion and aud jargon were wore terii teril terrible ble bie to witness we arrived in st louis about eight in the evening all safe and hound bound and went to the residence of mr A alj U kershaw there met elders D 11 stuart and anam aa W pratt and nd went wen t from thereto there to br bermans both of these fa families are very kind and hospitable I 1 have visited all tho principal places of interest int erest erett in and about st louis among which is the st louis bridge and a very I 1 grand structure it is its length 1 am nui oid told old is one mile and a quarter and it cost cosbin in the neighborhood of thirteen million dollars I 1 also visited the st louis water works ironworks wor coal mines minea prominent buld abuid ings and many mavy other points paints of interest fere st and last but not least the tile everal several public and private parka parks which are indeed beautiful especially shaws gardens which ure are simply magnificent one oae could almost imagine himself in the tropical regions when looking at the palm trees rubery shruberry sh flowers ac therein lorein contained also the tower grove park which is an immense affidi containing one hundred and sixty acres it cost the city in laying out lawns and trees roads roade fences ac something like six hundred bundred thousand dollars it is owned by the city which expends on the same some twenty six thousand dollars annually lor for improving and beautifying tile the place I 1 obtained my information from the gatekeeper who once professed to be a latter day Sain Saint but on account of seeing so M much uch trouble lie he left the church and is now a nith myth y so far sa as religion is concerned I 1 visited lafayette park which is very nice and the forest parks park in the which they are just making the roads and many other places too numerous to mention I 1 am here in connection with I 1 elders A M stuart and M NV pratt holding meetings and visiting and speaking with the people whenever we have an opportunity to do so I 1 I 1 I 1 I 1 1 I 1 will close by
