true that the railroads cannot bring any coal from tho the weber mines that the local mines are to bo be starved out if so they will last the longer for if the coal Is not got out and consumed it remains in its native L bed a reserve resource for future use dle Ble meantime antime how about that projected railroad direct from this city to the weber in default of that road would it not pot be well to construct a light horse 61 tramway 1 narrow gauge to be laid down across the mountains the nearest practicable way from this city to the weber mines very level grading e would not be 0 ao o necessary new now as where W hero here a steam locomotive is used for the propelling po power the tramway could run ov or r the mountains easily enough by y doubling teams let lot us have a tramway to the coal unless we can cari have a regular railroad and thus be independent of the great r til ill roads for our fuel it would be in the in ferest interest of the weber coal miners to have such a road roid in operation are not matters judicial judici af in a curious condition in this part of the country according to recent en unc lations if I 1 understand them at all if a woman wants to bleed a man providing he be a ler mormon Nl ormon itea it ia e easy enough to do it its it Is is held that if a woman claims that she is is mans wife wire it Is not ne necessary for her to prove much th that at it mat matters ners fers little what the man says about it that alimony and ana lawyers fees during litigation for divorce can be allowed when it is notorious that the woman never lever tid ver was a farcical exposition of law jaw this is is to be surel what a direct encouragement to feminine blackmailers chatau what an invitation coall to all ali discontented women who are legally married or who are not married in the e eye ve of the law to engage in litigation 0 only commence a suit and you shall have liberal alimony you shall live like ladles ladies nad aad your lawyers like fighting technicalities ties for which common people have no relish truly common sense appears to he most uncommon sense in the courts in some courts the removal of the postmaster of ogden has excited considerable in ter esthere and elsewhere firstin Fir was said to have been because of his religion next because of partisan political pressure from nebraska and iowa although half denied still there may bo be something in the religious reason after all anyway people believe there is it will be well if there is not the then as to the political reason what on earth has nebraska or iowa to do with ap an point polut ments for utah it is the uth utah people who are chiefly affected by these appointments and in all justice us they are the people wishes should be most consulted in the matter of making th we 0 appointments if justice is the object of the american government now there may be a third reason for the removal tiie the late postmaster may have been too honest to be very acceptable to political people as a federal official possibly the new incumbent will take care caro not to prove himself open to objection on that score too much honesty does not appear to suit in public office A big rascal with a little political pressure behind h him m a appears p pears to be more acceptable th than a n an tin honest man mau particularly if lf the latter iatter believes lie lle ve in a
