nine fine new hall capable of convening some six hundred people which was well filled in tile the morn morning n an and d overflowing inthe afternoon and evening I 1 never saw better attention the conference was remarkable far for the excellent spirit abounding the large largo numbers attending and the good attention paid throughout the day it was a time of rejoicing the tile native E elders I 1 spoke with great freedom and power jf on monday evening the choir gave a conceal on wednesday evening we held a priesthood meeting which was attended by some forty or fifty of tho local priesthood would meet the approval of heaven the servants of god who sent me and also of my family and friends A many times since then have I 1 been thankful to god who inspired my to permit me to continue my meetings in the open air at the following places in lincoln shire eaford sleaford SI Swine swineshead shead and Wig loft and had attentive audiences at each place the following t sunday may the ath I 1 receive received d instructions by letter ietter from brother lyman for me to hold meetings mee tings in the open air nir and to advise tile the brethren in in mv my travel travels to do the same coppice on very reasonable terms elders smith halliday and myself attended the first sunday and we had a very good audience since then we have bave been there a few times separately rii ril tely distributed invitation circulars in hi the neighborhood ana preached I 1 have arranged for one of the local elders from this town to bo be sent there to fill appointments every sunday when the elders from zion cannot attend atten d the prospects there are good the proprietor of the hall has not only kindly lindly loaned us his harmon harmonium lum but himself and his generous wife also a young man have volunteer ed their services and assisted in singing and discoursing sweet music bic for us on sunday last three persons from that village viii c came to birmingham to be baptized also two from other places whom I 1 baptized in our font at hockley bockley chapel A couple of ministers this last week have helped to advertise advert ize our meetings at coppice by warning the public against coming to hear us at the Tem temperance perance Derance halla hall hail which to me is a very sure sign that still morewood more good is about to be accomplished in that neighborhood as I 1 never knew it to fail when they take a stand against us some of i their members br are e about to abandon them and arid obey the gospel we have baptized eight persons this month and there are several more on the brink of the water who have already expressed their intention to join without delay the prospects never seemed so good as is aap at present resent since I 1 have labored in this conference now more and do their utmost to open new places ph aces in which to preach the gospel of life and salvation 1 I wo have recently improved appearance of hockley chapel by painting and decorating the tho walls
