Deseret News Sports Writer Learning to play golf the right way neednt be as complicated or expensive as many people think. There are several ways of learning about the surface of the game, but getting down into the game is a different story for many people. One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways of going about this is taking a class at the University of Utah. This summer the university is offering 12 daytime classes for students and four afternoon sessions. The afternoon . classes are being offered through the Division of Continuing Educations Community Services Program and are open to foursome of professionals from Rockwell anyone. In the past couple of years, the schools golf pro-- ' gram as grown tremendously. Dr. Jim Ewers, chairman keep your lawn up to PAR1 of the physical education program, noted several reasons for this growth. The move into the new sports complex is one. But, probably the most important is that physical education is no longer being required by the university. That means weve had to broaden our scope a little. We have to attract the student now. that means we have to offer better programs, Ewers noted. And. golf is a prime example of better programs. Last quarter 625 students registered for a golf class. Even after some of the classes were expanded to accomodate between 24 to 28 students, only 375 made it. Ewers pointed out that nothing can top the golf instruction. But our type of group instruction is about the next best thing. One of our instructors did a study on golf instruction for his doctorate .
