"I am an actress." she told us at that time. "Some performers feel they must get involved. never have. I have wanted to pay ate ition to my art." Now she says. "Wien I saw these films, I felt they should get as many viewers as possible. For this reason, I have been stumping the country on behalf of the programs." She said she has met with different types of reaction to her message about the films during her trip. She said at one call in radio show in Texas, nearly' everyone was against the Equal Rights amendment. "That isn't what these dramas are about at all," she observed. "These programs dramatize the role at women in society in times past as well as the problems women face. Miss Alexander said, during a telephone interview, that she believed too much attention had been paid to the extreme elements in the controversy, to the right and to the left. She said she did not believe enough attention had been paid to specific issues. "Some of these dramas point out these things. specific problems, such as labor and home problems faced by women." Miss Alexander concluded. The programs. unfortunately, do not carry too many messages of positive aspects in the lives ot women.
