the board of directors ot the territorial insane asylum president dent denv R T burton occupied the chair all the directors were present excepting ex epting governor murray and col coi J it IL winder the members member bad first visited the site chosen for the proposed edifice before convening at the court house the the report of the committee on the purchase of a site wag was presented and adopted I 1 it showed that title to about thirty three acres of land had been secured ecu acu leaving abouo seven acres yet et t to secure title to which wo would u id be transferred as soon as the present presen t owners title was perfected the thirty three acres had been ed at a cost coat of the lepor report t also stated that the sum of 2000 0 had been appropriated appropriate di by utah county to the purposes of the asylum also by provo city which amounts were now made subject lo 10 the order of the board on motion the sum of 2000 and were gratefully acce accepted pied by y the board on behalf of tho tha gand jand nd the secretary was instructed 11 01 draw unsaid amounts for the purposes indicted sted the report of the committee on plans and specifications waa was then accepted and dr J M benedict stated that the who was present plan drafted by the architect mr air 1 john ohn H burton and adopted by the board was known as the improved linear form and highly recommended by byruch such sueh eminent medical autho grav and kirkwood the tho pian plan is after that of the state asylum of michigan at kalamazoo and consists ora ofa central or main building and two wings rhese these wings are made of two longitudinal and ild iid two transverse sections section each the bu building will bo be lir tir nire tire proof roof as far fay as the materials at E hand and will allow of it being made so it having havi ng been provided hy by the last as Legli legislature lature for the building of only a portion of such a structure in view of meeting the present requirements and furday afternoon after judge mcbride had concluded his ment mr brown for the defense desired to reply but owing to the lateness of the hour the court adjourned until this morning mr brown then replied
