Friday night at Bonneville Raceway Park was the last race of the Bob Reeves' Western Sports Center Grand Prix. Archibald went into the race leading Dan Leehtenberg in the running for tite pro money by three points. Lechtenberg rode in the 125 pro. A good start and a good ride and the young rider finished first in the first motocross of the night. Archibald followed suit in the 250 pro. In the second moto of the night, though, Lechtenberg rode a good race. Archibald came out of the first turn with the entire pack to his front. He cut and twisted into third place, but could go no further. Stan Wynhof, riding this night in the 250 class on a new machine, had a commanding lead. Archibald and Gavin Dillard jostled for second. Off the final jump Archibald edged into second, but out of the final turn Dillard cut close and got the wave of the checkered ahead of Archibald. The third place finish dropped behind Lechtenberg by two points. The dark haired Lechtenberg capped the Grand Prix title by winning thethird and final moto. For his efforts, POO will be awarded the winner. Archibald will receive $125. This is certainly not the strace of the season at the Bonneville facility, though, and as sure as motocross is here, the duel will continue. Pretty Susan Andrew turned in her best showing of the season by finishing second in the second moto and finishing third in the overall. In the second moto Susan was in the lead after the first turn but had to settle for second when Kirk Bailey made a beautiful cut to the inside. For the remaining four laps, though, Susan staved several threats, one going into the last turn, to take her second.
