will receive the warmest appreciation of the american people all the prominent republicans attended the caucus this morning they desire to determine what is contested and and what is uncontested nominations the administration ad minis mints senators maintained the adverse report of a committee should constitute a contested nomination conkling and friends held the objection of one senator from the state in which the nomination belongs made it contested this point was not settled and this the caucus will pursue the question conkling was conspicuously pleasant today to day which many regard
