Show --rs Moments In History '4 1838 The Prophet Joseph Smith May 8, Kirtland, Ohio answered questions that were frequently asked of him. Twenty of the questions and answers were printed in the Elders Journal published in Kirtland. Question. Do you believe the Bible? Answer. If we do, we are the only people under heaven that does, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do. Question. "Wherein do you differ from other sects? In that we believe the Bible, and all other sects Answer. to profess believe their interpretations of the Bible, and their creeds. Question. Do Mormons baptize in the name of Joe Smith? Answer. No, but if they did, it would be as valid as the baptism administered by sectarian priests. Twenty questions were answered with the comment that they were published "to save myself the trouble of repeating the same a thousand times over and over again. 1844 One public poll put the Prophet May 8, St. Louis, Mo. On both sides of the river the country was literally black with them, Wilford Woodruff commented. It looked as though the whole face of the earth was alive and moving like the waves of the sea. Heber C. Kimball remarked that he had heard many buffalo tales told, but he never expected to behold what his eyes now saw.
