The AA schools further on down the state or away from your region are known only by reputation and word of mouth. But word of mouth was apparently good enough for most as they dropped the Eagles into No. 1 slot and then set plans to try and knock them off. The majority of the Class A schools are beginning all over this year with a fresh crop of young men. Nearly everyone lost some key men last year, especially the lines, but a bumper crop of new talent is rising up fast under the athletic tute-leg- e of men like Gean Plaga, West; Ken Schmidt, Skyline; Hal Hardcastle, Highland; Hal Lewis, Logan; Roy Whitworth, Bingham and Dick Hill at Provo. The AA schools are only two weeks into their schedule and most of the Region Two squads wont even begin league play until the games Sept. 18. Region One is set for a round of league games today, Region Three is in practice and Region Four will play league. In all, the AA race should be a tight one and even if Skyline does emerge as the state champion again, they wont get it without a fight. Since nearly everyone is gunning for them.
