Castillo, a member of the Church and a 1957 graduate of Brigham Young University, has been appointed Guatemalan ambassador to the United Nations. His appointment came from the newly elected president, Carlos Arana, the day after the inauguration on July 1. Mr. Castillo's family lives in Orem. He married the former Janice Johnson and they have seven children. He visited with his family in Orem this week and will supervise a staff of 12 in the United Nations. Although this is his first experience as a diplomat Mr. Castillo spent the last four years as a senator from El Quiche district in Guatemala. He was president of the Congressional Agricultural Commission and was 0n the communications and exterior relations committees. BYU Dancers On . , former senator 4 t 4 Clair Pres. Johnson has served as a bishop rnd a member of the high council in Boise Stake and has directed seminaries in that area. Mrs. Johnson has served as member of the Relief Society Slake board and has taught classes in Primary and Relief Society. He can play nine instruments; the oboe, saxophone, clarinet, flute, bnssron, baritone, trombone, piano and organ. He was a member of the Lion's Band for 1969 70 and iccei'id honorable mention in the Lions band competition for 1970.
