TV in Highlights mimmiiiiiiitiiiiiiittiiiiiimiiiittiiiiiiitiiiiiinimiiiiiniiiiiiiuiuiinin Locally Produced fi:30 By HOWARD PEARSON While the networks are nearing the start of their new season, the spotlight switches to some excellent locally produced television features. Civic Dialogue, jointly sponsored by the Deseret News and KUED, already has premiered with some informative political programs and will continue throughout the winter. Another phase of KUED programming, presentation of local theater productions, will be on the schedule Sept. 12 at 8 p.m., when the second work of th station's Repertory Theater will be presented. A Comedy Planned The show, a comedy, is Mrs. Genius, which was written by Forrest Kleinman, a television and movie playwright of renown who wrote the production for Hollywood Opening Night. It was presented on that series on NBC in 1952, starring Celeste Holme and John Archer. Mr. Kleinman has since moved to Salt Lake to make his home. For the local presentation, Georgia Garff and Spence have the starring roles. Both Kinard, formerly of KSL-Tacted in the show at KUED for the taping a couple of months ago. Since then, bofh have left Salt Lake for other projects. , is now Georgia, who was a feature reporter on working at the NBC siation in San Francisco. Kinard, who was a newsman for KSL-Treceived a CBS fellowship at and is now studying Columbia. Mrs. Genius, comedy in which they star with H. E. D. Redford and others, tells whet happens when a man discovers that his own brilliant ideas are, in reality, those of his wife. Another highlight of local television will be NET Journal (Ch. 7, 9 p.m. Sept 9.) At this time, Czechoslovakia: The Wayward Satellite will be presented. The local feature occurs at the end, 10 p.m., when Jackie Nokes, the vivacious hostess for Midday, shows slides of her recent trip to Jackie Nokes will show Europe and discusses the KSL-TV- the slides she took on recent . . . . Czechoslovakia visit. junket. Jackie visited locations for jjve m0VjeSi including the site where Bridge at Remagen was being made in Czechoslovakia. She obtained some unusual and outstanding photos. One in Czechoslovakia shows the hill on which a clandestine TV station was being operated. Besides visiting this location, Jackie saw filming on lithis Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium. Both Bridge and are being produced by David Wolper and he and Jackie reminisced over Salt Lake incidents during production of Devils Brigade. Jackie has shown some of the slides she took and discussed her trip on Midday, telecast at 11 a.m. weekdays on Ch. 5. She has still other films to come and will present the.c on her program in the weeks ahead. The KUED presentation is fortunate because it allows viewers who are unable to watch daytime programs to see one of Salt Lakes top feminine TV personalities presenting lts an interesting program.
