Dear Eunice Farmer: It seems that I always have fabric left over if I buy the amount that is called for on the pattern. Is it wise to buy less than recommended? I Mrs. hate to have leftovers. T.H.H. : Dear Mrs. The amount of fabric needed for you as an individual could vary according to your height and the length you wish for a skirt. Several years ago we always thought of a skirt in terms of one yard. Today, many of you can make a skirt s of a yard of with fabric due to the length. If yOur pattern Is a new one in the catalogue, the length adjustment has been made. If you are using an old pattern, it probably called for more than you would need today.. The width of fabric is also a guiding factor in the correct yardage needed. If your fabric is wider than average, you may save as much as one length. I would suggest you carefully measure the amount needed especially if you are an expensive considering piece of fabric. There is one redeeming feature however, today we find so many garments with contrasting panels or yokes, sleeves, or whatever, that you will find some great places to use those leftovers If you are clever. Many times a patched up look is more chic than a garment made in one color. Ends Saturday. Oct. 21st m be the proud possessor of ait 8 xlff photographic OIL COLORED PORTRAIT x - - ff '.
