Show Page 2 The Aggie Review The Reviewer This Month Spring is really struggling to gain a foothold in Logan this year but anyone who has spent a spring or summer in Cache Valley knows that the wait is really worth it There are few places as beautiful and serene as Happy Valley in Springtime But strange as it may seem it seems sad in a way to see winter go its way What resident of the valley hasn't looked up at the snowcapped mountains and thought what a beautiful sight they are? And what student after having fought up the hill to school doesn't look out over the valley floor blanketed in white and feel the peacefulness and quiet of the cold winter morning A newspaper editor from California recently visited USU and came into the valley at night In the morning he was just like a little kid on Christmas Day There were lots of "Ohs" and "Ahs" as he ran from window to window then outside to view the mountains He left still unable to believe the beauty he had seen calling Cache Valley the "Valley of the Gods" Unfortunately most of us who have been here for two or three (or four or five or six!) years don't always see that beauty We know its cold and wet and miserable and we fail to see the scenery that is right under our noses And since jobs aren't that easy to come by in Utah especially Logan this opportunity may pass us right by The snow will be melted by now (hopefully) and the rebirth of Spring taking command but it does seem sad to se$£M?er take its own brand of beauty away from us If you waded through that bit of whimsy you may be wondering what happened to last month's issue of The Aggie Review There wasn't one in case you hadn't noticed! The reason for missing one month was financial We don't sell advertising and rely on our funds from the Publication Board However we have received funds for this issue and one more to be published in May If any of you missed us we're sorry The magazine is important to us and we hope it's important to you too Please let us know if you want to see more of The Aggie Review ' Although shortened to eight pages this month The Aggie Review nevertheless contains some interesting articles Our cover story written by Ken Sink tells of one of Cache Valley's greatest legend that of Old Ephraim The drawing of Old Ephraim on the front cover was done by Becky Young Glen Kaiser gives us his impressions of early Spring in a short essay entitled "Expectant Spring" The photo of a brand new cattail is by Chas Rily Nelson Esq yet! Whoever thought of eating bugs? Laura Starrett apparently did and has written a story that should make you smile if you don't mind french fried caterpillars ' Again we present some new poets for your edification The creative process is sometimes painful and sometimes joyful and we thank these people for sharing their thoughts with us Doug Stewart does a great job of finding these poets and bringing them to our attention don't you think?
