ASUSU monies which annually amount to about $206000 per year Either Rex Burgon or Bruce Israelsen will have this responsibility following the final elections tomorrow and Friday In an interview with Student Life recently the two students told of their views and goals for the office Israelsen a in junior and said he would like to do away with miscellaneous fund accounts “There is no such thing as a miscellaneous expense” he said He also said that he would like to give groups such as AWS BSU and MECHA reports on their financial standings just prior to their planning of emphasis weeks Burgon organized machine for ASUSU We won’t have groups with large sums spending them on parties at the end of the year if they have some oney left” However he said he knew of no instances when this had hap purpose of the board would be to get a good overview of how students want their money used He said he would try to get montly financial reports from funded organizations and also get accurate budget Godfrey said that he would like to see more advertising and offering in the Salt Lake area due to the large populace and potential enrollment in that area Spendlove said that he would like to correlate the student medias so that the general studentbody would be made aware of the what when and where of campus life funded “When the Executive Council decides how the money should be spent it is the responsibility of the financial vice president to see that the funds are spent in the most effective way possible” Burgon said However he said the responsibility to the different groups has not been given enough attention in the past Israelsen said the basic responsibility of all student officers to to the student body “In fulfilling this responsibility you automatically cover the duty to the different organizations” he said “You effectively control the student funds by keeping student interest in mind at all times” Both candidates agreed that they will if elected try to involve people
