Michael Landon better known as Little Joe Cartwright in television’s Bonanza will be the featured quest at the annual Utah State University Robins Awards Robins Awards sponsored by Sigma Nu and Associated Women Students is set May 5 at 8 pm in the Fine Arts Center It will coincide with Mother’s Weekend at USU Michael Landon star of Bonanza will appear during Robins Awards at USU Ten special awards will be presented at the event including Man of the Year Personality of the Year Organization of the Year Woman of the Year Achievement of the Year Recital scheduled of student works The Utah State Music will Department present a recital of student compositions Tuesday April 17th at 8 pm in room 104 in the Chase Fine Arts Center Music played will be original compositions written by USU music theory students in classes taught by Dean Madsen Larry Smith and Alma Dittmer A large variety of pieces were written by the students including rock string quartets folk lore and string and brass ensembles According to Dean Madsen music theory prefessor and assistant conductor of the USU Symphonic Band “We have been very pleased with what the students have done and hearing these original compositions will be a treat for anyone who attends the recital and sees the music talent within our studentbody here at Utah State Between 15 and 20 pieces will be performed and the recital is free of charge REX LUND Professor of the Year Schplar of the Year Talent of the Year Athlete of the Year and Alumnus ' of the Year event are Proceeds from the donated to the Bill Robins Memorial Scholarship Fund Michael Landon who has an IQ of 151 has proven himself as talent He a three-dimension- al has written 15 scripts and five of the Bonanza programs in addition to his acting directed duties A native of Forest Hills NY Landon was a track star throughout high school and received 42 college athletic scholarship offer After accepting the one from the University of Southern California he tore a ligament and changed directions from sports to acting Also scheduled to make appearances during the evening’s program will be the USU Aggiettes USU Jazz Ensemble and the Calico Company -
