the secretary of the interior to approve a cooperative fishery research and training program to be carried out at Utah State University Utah’s senior senator staled that he will appear before the senate appropriations committee to ask for a $30000 per year appropriation to implement the program at Logan Senator Bennett said that “The funds will be used by the bureau of sport fisheries in the department of the interior to employ technical personnel who will work with USU in and research both teaching areas These technicians will actually be part of the USU faculty The primary emphasis will be on training graduate students for employment in state and federal fishery agencies “I feel confident after preliminary contacts with department of interior personnel that the department will approve my request This will be a great boon to the University to the over-al- l fishery conservation effort and to Utah fishermen “The USU program will be nature in of a cooperative which the federal government USU and the Utah State Fish and Game commission will participate The fishery unit will be similar to the cooperative wildlife research unit which is already being carried out in a most satisfactory manner at USU The university will be expected to furnish necessary office space and laboratory facilities The university or the state fish and game commission will provide stenographic help (R-Uta- h) while' the bureau of sport fisheries will pay the salary and expenses of unit leaders “I am anxious to see this meritorious program succeed and will do everything I can to secure its formulating plans for a blockade of student cars next week to check for proper registration of cars All cars parked in student and faculty parking areas are required to display student parking registra t i o n stickers The blockade will be set up to check on these stickers in order to catch up with violators who park in the areas but who did not pay for the parking stickers Officer Russel Knowles met with Student Senate last week after an invitation was extended to him to explain several student complaints about the necessity of paying for the parking stickers when the students who did
