Show 2 — STUDENT LIFE MAY 7 1957 - I IM'f Editorial rtVi u Agathon Musical Well Received Another Agathon celebration is history and the efforts and work of the Agathon committee were well expended This Agathon was one of the better ones in the history of this event and the high school seniors went away well pleased The many activities planned for the high school seniors should have made them more anxious to come to college than they have ever been and want to make that college Utah State These activities were an excellnt means of advertising to the seniors and should do this school much good But one of Hie iinest events of the celebration along with the big dance the dance contest and the many other top events was the original musical comedy This comedy took on a near professional atmosphere and was very well done It represented Utah State in the finest manner showing off some of the college’s best talent in writing production and showmanship The musical scores and the script written entirely showed off the talent and facilities w’ithin students by Utah State The producing also student performed gave the seniors as well as the general public a good insight to the abilities of the students of USU in this field The musical replaced the variety show which had h been used in the past and it was much better The a acti-entertainment of the musical is far above the w ity of the variety show even though these ere also good This production added greatly to the agathon celebration and let the students know that there is much going on at this campus beside the old familiar agricultural subjects and activities This showed them how great is the influence of other activities and went a long way in convincing high school seniors that Utah State is the place to go Agathon was a big success this year and all people who worked in any part of the celebration should be commended for their fine efforts By reason of popular demand this musical comedy is being presented once more It will be held tonight (Tuesday) at 8 pm in the Main Auditorium The price of admission will be 50 cents per person S0-- UO hi ‘ LEFT ttMH At-5KK- AL WEST on Tocer MUAVARO Tfife DRIVE tWNj El IDEA cr 5iPv asm -- AKO WAR I SOVtH top-notc- Letter To Editor Scribble was a disgrace this year — what amateurishness such commonness — such fifth-grad- e triflings it scarcely deserves a place in my thoughts (however common they might be) it is not to be laughed at but to be scorned — as the mast waste of paper and printer’s ink how can people do is time worth so little that it should be squandered thus? Has it really come to this that taste has at least been divested of its last drop of dignity of purpose? Pernicious hateful disgusting void The cartoons are ridiculous — the cover shows such low taste that it is inconceivable how the Mercury company could stand to print it There is no format for the book— no rime nor reason to it— and the material is even worse than usual — the artist shows such a complete lack of imagination that it is difficult to call his triflings art at all The editor’s little bagatelles are such oh hell such nothingness — no form no purpose no humor no intelligence in them at all Scribble will never recover I shall now be afraid to ever claim that I was editor of the magazine I am disgraced as well as disgusted — and I am seriously more than mad I am a torrent of abuse upon those miserable little people for their petty efforts —of course I mean to desecrate only those responsible for the Why this sN vm Students Reminded Of V hat To Do For STUDENT LIFE would like to ing the peak hours of 12 and remind all students of the way 5 pm that they can help ease the trafIf all students would rcfiain fic situation on Fourth North dur- from making a left hand turn from Fourth North to the Boulevard during these hours there would not be the traffic pile-uPrinted during the that now results school vear bv the Associated StuThe above digrahm diagram dents of the Utah State University Ofwhich was drawn by STUDENT fice room 213 Student Union Building Phone 100 Extension 158 — Enter- LIFE artist Jerry Norton shows ed as second class mail matter Sept magazine and its publication 1908 at Uocan Utah under the act the affected area of Logan and March 2 1870 Acceptance for some of our suggestions for aland not the writers (who al- of mailing at special rate of postage In is accordance with postal laws leviating the situation though bad are not to blame for and regulations their being printed) Subscription rates for It is partly the school’s fault $1 80 per year or GO cents per quarthey nipped the only good de- ter $200 signs ever given to the magazine and AIR AMBULANCE by seeking to reak vengeance on the only good editor (and his Coffee end Doughnuts business manager associate) they ROYAL BAKERY have ever had who were responsible for the three best issues 118 North Moin that the school has yet produced Phone 626 I shall never forget their pettiness their stupid modesty their fatuous disgusting stupidity and & bad taste These are my opinions but Hertz Rent-a-CSystem please judge for yourself Past Editor Says Scribble e Is On Level Fifth-Grad- BUiLMHfS Student Life seml-woek- Traffic p lv TONIGHT & WEDNESDAY s: te Flight Training I Ip 4v SB Kim CAA and State Approved for Veteran Flight Training Student Life cuff ClNtMASCOPE Rosalind Russell M MOM' Color Cartoon Thursday ‘till Monday Plus 1 LOGAN CACHE AIRPORT ef PHONE 3005 JOANNE TUCKER Business Manager Ron Amos Sports Editor Richards Society Editors Iynette and Mary Alice Johnson Arnold Thayer Photographer Circulation Mgr Myron Hahn Geri Canister Reporting Staff Mary Cronquist Marlin Dearden Flint Joan Fillmore Margaret Pearl Prlsbv Louise Petersen Bob Trelchler Marilyn Shelly Grace Warnlck Paul Swenson Harvey Brady stm& Passenger and Freight 1902 HESS VAX Color by TECHNICOLOR susah ROeiRTSOM AIRPLANE CHARTER AND RENTAL UTAII STATE UNIVERSITY Editor-In-Chi- VIovak ejnfftao STUDENT INSTRUCTION Former Scribble Editor Now at Harvard Established prtwH William Holden ar Glen Robinson PICTURES COLUMBIA If No Answer Call 2113 COMING SOON!
